![]() The scientific community once advocated maintaining a dry wound environment to aid the body’s healing response. As a result, wound dressings were designed to absorb moisture and keep itaway from the wound. In the 1960’s, research found that dryness served as a barrier to the body’s healing efforts and occlusive wraps were designed to keep wounds moist. In the late 1980's, Dr. Manoj Jain, BioCore’s founder and chief executive officer, believed that the wound care industry needed to refocus its research efforts. He decided to advance wound carebeyond simple dressings by developing Kollagen technology. In 1991, six BioCore employees began manufacturing Medifil® and SkinTemp® collagen wound managment products. Today, BioCore’s SkinTemp®and Medifil®
dressings are distributed internationally and utilized by clinicians on
thousands of wounds of varying etiologies. The company’s revenues have
doubled annually since its founding as a Kansas corporation in 1991. BioCore
currently employs approximately 100 employees based at corporate headquarters
in Topeka, Kansas. and at satellite offices throughout the United States.
